Minotaur and Aslan Narnia Play by Azmal Minotaur and Aslan Narnia Play by Azmal
Photo of the Narnia theatrical production. I believe this is pic from a rehearsal.

I created the Minotaur mask and the Aslan headdress.

Minotaur mask was made from leather and used real cow horns.

The Aslan headdress was a leather base and mounted with a lot of horse hair. That yellow lighting makes it look fluorescent but its more a light blonde by default.

Wow, beautiful... I bet the play turned out awesome too. Did you see it? If you did... must be quite a feeling to see your work on stage like that...

Cool stuff, man! Are they close enough that you'd be able to actually see the play?

We had a production in the small down I used to live in, and my mother was part of the stage crew.

I tried to convince them to do costumes more like this, but, well... Let's just say it didn't really translate well. The Aslan looked like an interpretation of the Cowardly Lion rather than Aslan...

Yeah I can imagine. When you want to go for something realistic you better be ready to spend some big bucks and a lot of time because its a lot more work to make it right.

Something stylized has a lot more freedom because it's obviously stylized and lets the actors represent the characters better. Just my opinion of course ; ]

Well the thing was, they did spend big bucks on their costumes, but they just ended up looking like a children's play. But it kind of way, because 75% of the cast was children. [Most of the animals were kids; but they didn't have any mythical creatures besides Tumnus and the unicorn] so yeah.

I agree with you though. Stylized can be really fantastic when done right <3
