First Armor - Pic 1 by Azmal First Armor - Pic 1 by Azmal
Someone requested some more information on this piece so:

This was made in mid-late 2005 and sold at the Texas Ren Fest. And this was the first harness of armor in which I did per my own design. (Before I had watched & helped my friend William make a suit for a customer in Arizona and picked up what I could from that)

The leather used was 10-12oz and was wetmolded from flat leather to the curves you see and most of the armor has two bands of border tooling. I actually made the helmet first, and it was my first helmet and I managed to do it without any guidance or ever seeing a helmet being made. The mask actually snaps off.

All the studs you see each have 2 prongs, and you must stab the leather with an exacto knife or some similar knife twice each time for the prongs to go through and then you must bend them over so it took a while. Later on though I got a hand press which did it for me which made life easier.

Any other questions just ask.

I've made one very similar to this long time ago, but made it of cardboard hardened with glue and painted black-metalick. This brings memories when I used to be more creative. Thank you

I can definitely see your progress form this to your newer items, which has been a thousand sum fold. Especially on the gaunts.
Although i'd like to ask, howd you get the creases so well?

Creases? Wet molding I guess but I'm not quite sure what you mean by creases.

I mean the Sculpting and forming. so you used water and wooden or otherwise shapes and formed it?

Your Page was refered to me and I see why. You have a gallery full of outstanding craftsmanship. I may even have to get some work done by you to add to something I have in mind in the future. Well done.

I'll be watching you!
