Conan Dagger by Azmal Conan Dagger by Azmal
Here is a 23" Dagger (or short sword if you prefer) made to go along with the Conan themed project I've done. Sword still on the way, should be done pretty soon.

Made from very tough CPM 3V steel. It's made to take some abuse.
Heat and cryo treated.
The handle is made from snakewood which is also very tough (incredibly dense) and quite beautiful.
Full tang of course

The pommel and quillion (crossguard) was sculpted and cast here in bronze. It will natrually patina (antique) over time to the more 'expected' bronze coloring.

Uh... Is it possible to commender a knife, or at least one blade (I can make the handle wood part ) personalized? (with a drawing for the shape and dimmensions)
because it is of course really beautifull work.

I don't know, it's a quality control question really. I'd much rather sell a completed product and I'm able to design something to your specifications.

That is a lovely piece, the workmanship is beautiful. And it's a good example of fantasy design- original (not a strict copy of a historical piece), yet still functional.

Thanks. Yeah I love fantasy the best and I plan to make more 'feasible fantasy' as time goes on.

Sometimes I see fantasy sword and armor designs, and it's obvious that the designer forgot that the things should still function- impractical hilt and blade designs, armor that would be more of an impediment than anything..That's why I love the stuff from Lord of the Rings, and your designs- as cool as they look, they still work:)

Impressive, i didnt know you could get your hands on wooden materials as well, are you capable to get 'ibenholt' wood? it's supposedly the hardest of woods.

Ebony? Sure I can get it. I can get just about anything with a little research. Ebony isn't necessarily the hardest. I think snakewood seen here is harder than most species. The hardest is some species called Lignum Vitae. There are many great woods are very durable and hard so aesthetics should play some role in one's choice as well.

Gorgeous! And I would be inclined to call it a short sword, lol, though a matched pair would be great, in my eyes. Gotta have balance, right?

Whoa! This is some beautiful work! And made with CPM 3V, and even cryogenically treated?! This is easily the best dagger/short sword I've ever laid my eyes upon! It is equally as beautiful as it is deadly, if not more so! :D

Ah, familiar with CPM3V eh? Yeah, very good stuff indeed, and impossible to mirror polish (I tried anyway lol)

Well, I've never personally handled it, but I have read up on it, as well as several other steels. I would like to start making knives, myself, whenever I can afford it. I have other priorities, so I haven't had the luxury of buying the supplies and tools I need to start yet. I've considered starting with a cheap forge on a budget, but I'm still broke, so I can't even do that.

As for the polish, well, that's alright. I know a lot of people like a mirror finish, but just as many people prefer a matte finish. :D
