Atlantean Conan Sword Variant by Azmal Atlantean Conan Sword Variant by Azmal
Well this Conan sword is finally finished after a bit of a delay.
The blade is made from S7 Steel, heat treated and cryogenically treated to RC 58
I did the runes differently from the Conan movie version
It is about 44" long overall and weighs about 8lbs.
The handle is snakewood, just about the densest woods to be found and with a rather striking pattern.
The pommel and crossguard is based on the movie replica version but I made a wax copies, tweaked them a little and had them cast in solid silica bronze
So it is a very solid heavy duty sword.

I have seen several variations of this sword done by many blacksmiths and metal workers. All look magnifient but one thing is the same with all of the swords made. It appears that no one can get the weight down on. Even the replicas weigh in at 8 pounds, I'm pretty strong so it doesn't bother me much, but you can totally tell the difference between these types of swords and let's say a Japanese Katana that comes in a 2 or 3 pounds.

I also wonder, if we were to take a sword like this back in time, what people would have thought about it? I'm image it would be a sword that kings would want to covet.

Excellent job on the sword BTW, it is one of the best Atlanteans I've seen done so far.
